Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Giveaway!

Bobbi Brown Instant Long-Wear Makeup Remover

Ever since my discovery of They're Real (The Benefit mascara that the interwebs are, understandably losing their shizz over) last year I've been converted.

It applies like a dream and lasts and lasts and lasts and feckin' lasts! So much so that it is ESSENTIAL that you remove it every night. I'm going to be honest here and admit that I never removed my makeup properly pre -They're Real but now I don't have much choice.

They're Real on day 2 without removal. (Not really, they're fly legs(YOCK)) Source 

Not all removers are capable of vanquishing this epic lash batter though, Estée Lauder puts up a good fight but Holy Moly it hasn't a patch on Bobbi Brown!

It's a duo-phase (oil & water) remover, which mean you have to shake the bejesus of it before use and use it sparingly. Really do, I didn't on first attempt and ended up like a greasy panda. Attractive.

Used properly its a super gentle miracle worker, apparently it works on long wear lip stains too but I've yet to come across one of those that needed removal. Ever.

I got this as a pressie with a few other Bobbi Brown bits (that I'll show ye soon) from my very generous Sis but it's available from House of Fraser for £15 should you be so inclined. In yo' face, Benefit! Well, in mine really. 

HG Polish Basecoat - Mavala Super Base

I have to admit I've been seeing these little bottles in chemists and shops probably forever. Turns out there's a reason for that, they've been on sale here since 1959! (I haven't been looking that long). Not sure why but I've never picked one up. For someone with a polish collection like mine that's an accomplishment, believe me.

While in McCabes Chemists though I picked this up on a whim, I'd run out of Seche Base Coat and I'm not a big fan of polish without a base. My nail beds are sponges. Fact. 

Super Base goes on like a dream and dries, pretty much instantly and slightly shiny (You wouldn't wear this on it's own). The magic happens when you apply your colour though, the polish practically sticks to the base. You may need one or two strokes more to cover your nail but, once its on, that polish isn't going anywhere.

Exhibit A M'Lud: I applied OPI's Tickle my Francey and a topcoat of Hairspray Holo glitter on Christmas Eve. The following picture was taken yesterday: NINE DAYS LATER!

Not one chip, crack or peel!

That's pretty unbelievable, right? Not just that I managed to keep my nails the one colour for 9 days (lazy ho ho ho) but that it lasted so well. 

This is genuinely my new HG basecoat. I loves it. Lots. I picked it up for €5.79 but there's a special on Debenham's at the moment that might tickle your fancy should you wish to give it a shot. 

Have you tried Mavala polishes before? I'll deffny be picking up a few more so would love a recommendation... or two.

Monday's Moments - 02/01

Can you believe it's the New Year already? Nope, me either. I've pulled together 5 of the best moments from the festive holiday, though they were in abundance.

1. Never Gets Old

Probably my favourite moment of any break from work, ever is removing the alarm from my phone. I feel safe putting this up today as I've booked another four days leave and don't go back till next Monday. Bliss. 

Don't hate the player, hate the game. 

2. U - GG - L - Y - You ain't got no alibi..

I had promised that I'd never let these monstrosities near my feet. They're the marmite of the shoe world and, to me, reside somewhere near the Croc on a scale of ugliness. 

That was until I was in the Sis' over the Christmas break and saw a cheap as chips pair in the sale. Not actual Uggs but Penney's Uggs - Puggs, if you will.

3. That IS Crazy!

You may have heard me talking about my crazy nieces before. They're five now and go to an Irish school in Athy. Because they live a bit away I don't get to see them as often as I'd like but they never fail to amaze & entertain me when I do. 

Spending a couple of days with them over Christmas was great and the random stuff they said, even better. An example? Aoife pulled herself up onto a stool beside me while I was chatting to her Mam and interrupted 'Aunty Sue, do you know what they call a banana in Irish?', 'Nope', 'It's a BANANA!!, isn't that crazy?'. Yep, that's crazy, as are you my dear. 

4. Run for your Liiiiives...

Sssh, tell no one but for New Years we stocked up on Fireworks from North of the border. If I wasn't getting to go on the razz then the least I could do was satisfy my inner pyromaniac. That was until we decided to join Nan & Grandad for the big countdown bringing our illegal rockets with us. 

I've probably never laughed as much as when we watched my Dad with his serious face on lighting the fuses and running like a loon in slippers back toward the door screaming obscenities over his shoulder. Every single time he'd try to close the door in case the rocket went astray - 'Eh, Dad, we can't see through the frosted door!' Defeating the purpose? You're doing it right!

5. Let's Hug it out, Bro. 

Moment 5 is probably one of my favourites from the year (last year, not this one). I told ye I'd made a killing on the gorgebags' Christmas pressies but didn't tell you what they were, right? They were Samsung Galaxy Tabs and because they were so expensive they only got a stocking of goodies and one or two little pressies to go with. Because they hadn't asked for anything (they're awesome like that) I began to panic on Christmas Eve in case they didn't like them. 

I needn't have worried. Their eyes were like saucers as they opened them but being teenagers and not of many words I knew I'd chosen well when not one but both of them hugged me randomly as I was passing in the hall on Christmas Day. Hounds.

Cherry Pick of The Week - In Case You Didn't Know - Olly Murs

Howdy Doody fatter Patooties, how were your festive frolicks?

I'm back to the world of blogging after a wonderful break and many, many delicious eats & drinks.

The first Cherry Pick of the year has to go to the über cute Olly Murs and the title track from his album. I picked it up a couple of weeks back and it's a happy go lucky sing along joy that has my colleagues very wary as I'm walking into the office smiling every morning after listening to it in the car.

It's fab, he's fab, press play & be fab too, yeah?
