NOTD - Gorgeous Galaxies

I've been pondering this look for a little while now, but seeing the lovely job Lynnie made of it this week over on Beaut.ie I was inspired.

As ever, I've kept things simple though hopefully the end result belies that fact.

Don't let the amount of colours I've used put you off, there's no doubt similar to these in your own collections or you can leave out the yellow & pink on the nebulas. The makeup sponge is one of 20 picked up in Dunnes for €5 but readily available in chemists etc. The paperclip is pilfered from my desk. (sshhhh). 

Start with 2 coats of black, I've used Catrice I Wear my Sunglasses at Night
because of the micro red & green glitter (that you can't see here)

My choice for galaxy colours, be sure to dab the sponge before placing on the nail

Using the makeup sponge place your nebulas on the nails bed. White first, then yellow & pink
with navy to buff along its edges

With the end of the paperclip (or a toothpick) place small white dots to represent stars.
Include some larger dots for planets

A swish of glitter adds to the effect. I've used Bourjois (my all time fave)
but any glitter will do, even several sized glitters

A quick clean up & A shiny topcoat to protect your design & Spock's your Uncle!

Would you be giving this one this one a lash? Unfortunately as I've meetings all this week I'm going to have to paint most of 'em black & just keep the accent nail but its still a great effect.

Cherry Pick of the Week - Air Supply - All out of Love

Going to bring you a blast from the past with this weeks SOTW but I have a reason.

Air Supply & I go waaaay back. They were the first cassette tape (ancient music making technology for those of us under the age of 30) that my Daddy ever gave me, a cream & sage green number that I literally played to DEATH.

So to say I was thrilled to win VIP tickets for myself & el Papito to see them live in Dublin on Friday is an understatement.

We had an outstanding night, to see a group, 30 years later, that sound even better now live than they ever did recorded is surely the sign of true musicians.

It was a festival of cheese & we loved every minute.

NOTD - Paperclip Petals

NOTD today is a quirky quick design that even the most inexperienced nail enthusiasts amongst us should do in a jiffy. 

Choice of colours is Starlight by TopShop, a stunning silver foil polish that I've been loving since the summer time. Catrice Purpalised is a deep purple with a subtle siver metallic sheen, it can change colours from different angles. A very wearable shade for pingys or piggies. 

Start with 2 coats of Catrice

Hooogely expensive nail art tools

Dip the tip of the paperclip

5 touches will give you petals, no precision needed!

Using the hair clip, one dot of Catrice (or your base colour of choice) serves as the centre 

And there we have it!

These flowers can be done using any colour combination, but also any amount of flowers. The reason my petals are so large is because of the plastic covered paperclip used. Your average steel clip will produce much finer petals. 

It's a quick way to jazz up a normally plain mani so what say you? Yeah? Hell Yeah?

Monday's Moments - 12/9

You know I'm actually consciously looking out for good stuff since introducing this regular feature & guess what? Its kinda nice! Without further ado, my glorious moments this week have been:

1. Story?

This weekend my elder Broseph that I've mentioned several times was home with his lovely wife for a family gathering. While we're very close and talk/text/email every other day there's nothing quite like physically seeing a family member that lives overseas.

Laughing, joking and catching up are all great but a big brotherly bear hug? I'll take a couple of those please.

2. You did What?

Searching for my blouse the other day for a meeting I knew someone had moved it. After turning the wardrobe inside out I asked the eldest Gorgebag. 'Yeah, I had a bit of washing to do so did some of yours too. Is that OK?'

'Is it what? It's only gone & made my day you beautiful child' *cue affectionate noogie.

3. I Got Sunshiiiine...

Grabbing a quick bite of lunch on my ownio the other day it dawned on me that the coffee shop had placed tables outside. They now basically have a courtyard between two buildings but looking out over the fields.

Realising there was no one else out there I slipped outside with my salad. The place is a suntrap! I turned the phone on silent showed my mush to the sun and let it warm my bones. There's not a feeling like it in the world.

4. Jus' Chattin' 

This is going to seem like the nerdiest thing I've posted (so far) but several of my moments of chuffage this week have followed tweets or mentions by celebriddies that I've a lot of respect for.

There was Harlan Coben thanking us for recommending his books. Jackie Collins agreeing with me on the nudey merits of Jason Segel in Forgetting Sarah Marshall but the couple that have tickled my poindexter fancy more than those were RTs and Thanks for my review of Kill List by the Director, Cinematographer and the main character.

As a relative newbie to Twidder I know the novelty of accessible stars may diminish, but for now? It feckin' rocks.

5. Brand Spankin'

Final moment of delight this week has a direct correlation to number 1. Having a great time at the family gathering, naturally, involved cocktails. Several pitchers of cocktails to be precise. 

I did try to alternate drinks with soft drinks but that's not always possible so had resigned myself to losing most of Sunday morning to the Death of a Thousand Dogs. What happened? 

I woke up brand new, not a niggle, not an ache. A hangover free Sunday despite my best efforts? Get in!
