Cherry Pick of the Week: Twenty One Pilots ~ Stressed Out

It's been a while since we've popped up on a Sunday with a Pick of the Week, right? But this tune WILL NOT LEAVE MY NOGGIN!

I'm thanking the 'Discover' option on Spotify, that and a concerted effort to listen to more music when I'm out & about. Truly, the biggest loss in not driving is the loss of caraoke .

Twenty One Pilots though, they're a little bit sound, aren't they?

Cherry Pick of the Week: Kyla La Grange ~ Cut Your Teeth

I upgraded my phone this month & lost my downloaded tunes. I was OK(ish) with that, eager for the shiny new handset, until I was reminded this week of Kyla La Grange's Cut your Teeth. This reminder came with comparisons to Kate Bush, which I've always loved about Kyla's music.

The KYGO remix is another level of ethereal beauty but it just doesn't compare to the original, does it?

Now I'm playing Kyla on repeat & trying my damnedest to remember the forgotten gems on my old phone so I can right those wrongs too. You see Spotify is all well and good but there's nothing quite like two years worth of a personally cultivated soundtrack. I'm amending that today!

Cherry Pick of the Week: The Weeknd ~ Can't Feel My Face

Questionable pineapple hair aside I AM LOVING The Weeknd!

Definitely reminiscent of an early Michael Jackson to me, this song has embarrassed me precisely 4 times this week because I just can't help shoulder dancing to it when out walking. It's a sight to behold...

Tell us, are you loving Can't Feel My Face?

What tune is on repeat in your world this week?

Cherry Pick of the Week: Years & Years ~ Shine

You'll recognise this UK Electronica trio from their Summer STORMER King but their second single, Shine is set to take the radio waves by storm. A more sedate offering but still including a killer hook, it seems everything these lads produce is gold.

I have their album, Communion,  on my phone ready for walking tomorrow ~ you know the music's good when it's Sunday and you're looking forward to Monday just to hear it!

Do you love these guys too? Tell us, what's been on repeat in your world this week?

Cherry Pick of the Week - Iggy Azalea - Black Widow feat. Rita Ora

While sitting in Wales amidst a sea of laptops and male Jordans, I was setting up this Iggy number as my Cherry Pick of the Week - the reaction was uniform from the mens 'That's such a woman's song'. If anything, that confirmed my love for it.

In yo' hairy faces, bishes!

The newest offering from Mzz Azalea features Mzz Ora and one of the catchiest beats
you'll hear this summer. Black Widow, Baby!

What's been playing on repeat in your noggin this week then?

Cherry Pick of the Week: Lana Del Ray - West Coast

West Coast, Lana's second biggest US hit to date caused more than a stir when she unveiled it at her Coachella set this month.

Dark & melancholic, its reminiscent of Young and Beautiful, one of my favourite additions to The Great Gatsby soundtrack and a foreshadow of Lana's deliciously dark rendition of Once Upon a Dream for Maleficent

To me this is perfect chilled out, driving in the sunshine track - that could be partly because of the echo of The New Radicals: You Get What You Give with the 'You've got the music in you' chorus line.

The bottom line is, once West Coast lands this side of the pond on May 18, expect stratospheric things.

Cherry Pick of the Week: Foxes - Youth

I first heard this hauntingly beautiful dancey track on a Gossip Girl clip but the marketing geniuses behind Debenhams have made the right call in using it for their A/W 2013 ad campaign so expect it to go stratospheric in a matter of weeks.

That's a-ok though. We like it. We like it a loh.

Expect to hear a million remixes of this track in the coming months - this dubstep one is the first to be a little bit special.

You like?

Tell me, has an ad or TV campaign ever made you fall in love with a song?

Cherry Pick of the Week - Dizzee Rascal ft Robbie Williams: Goin' Crazy

Ahhoooo, Cherry Pick of the Week is back and this week the nod is going to Dizzee himself with a little help from Robbie.

Goin' Crazy is pretty much a dead cert to be populating our air waves in the next fortnight - that's if it can get off the constant loop it's playing in my noggin!

Tell me, which choon is driving you loco this week then?

Cherry Pick of the Week: Naughty Boy - La La La ft Sam Smith

Loving this catchy number from Naughty Boy ft Sam Smith.

Yep, the video is bizzaro but the hook is catchyyyyy!

What make we of this one then?

Cherry Pick of the Week: Empire of the Sun - Alive

They're baaaack! You might remember Empire of the Sun from '09s Summer track We Are The People that stormed European charts.

It's been a long hiatus but Alive is the first track from their forthcoming Ice On The Dune album (release June '13) and already I'm in love.

Give it a listen there and believe that within the next 6 weeks this'll be all over the radio waves.

Welcome back, lads.

Cherry Pick of the Week: The Lumineers: Ho Hey

Yes I have more than a penchant for American Folk Rock but this tune from Colorado based band The Lumineers is definitely a stand out.

You'll recognise the verse from the most recent Microsoft ad but it's also been used in probably the most fitting score of the year for Silver Linings Playbook

Beautiful lyrics, beautiful melody, beautiful song.

What's been your pick of the week, lyrically speaking? I'd love to know.

By the by THIS was
a very close contender
this week. Autotune heaven!

Cherry Pick of the Week: Rihanna - Diamonds

Absolutely loving Rihanna's newest tune, Diamonds. It's a departure from her recent dance tracks, stripped back and slowed down but I can't get it off loop in my noggin nor stop crowing it in the car.

Have you a tune that's occupying your mindhole this week?

Cherry Pick of the Week - Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks

For the second week in a row my Cherry Pick happens to be an older song that's gotten a recent radio revival.

I'm going to apologise in advance for getting this stuck in your noggin but as compensation have a squizz at the lads in the vid there, they're not disgusting like...

Damn you Foster the People you ridiculously attractive, easy listening earworms!

Cherry Pick of the Week - Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers

This song has been knocking around for a few years now but the radio edit has been getting a lot of love in recent months and weeks.

One of those tunes that you can never put your finger on when you hear but instantly recognise, I Follow Rivers has been on constant repeat in my noggin this past week.

Press play there and see do you know it. It's a grower.

If not this, then tell me, what tune is your fave at the moment?

Cherry Pick of The Week - Far East Movement - Turn Up the Love

Loving this from Far East Movement, perfect Summer dance tune - expect to hear it on dance floors err'where for the next few months!

What tune have you been loving this week?

Cherry Pick of The Week - Gigi D'Agostino - La Passion

This week's pick is a blast from the past, of sizzling in the sunshine and a blast from Friday night out, when I was reminded how much I loved it. The official video is fairly weird but nonetheless this is one of my all time favourite Summer dance songs and is now safely ensconced on my iPod.

Have you a song that reminds you of Summer as soon as you hear the opening notes?

Song of the Day - Good Life

It's not often you hear a song that you Love on first listen, then you hear songs like this.
This is Hoooge in the States, so Happy July 4th folks, we'll heart it for a little while before the radio shows overplay it to a shell of it's former glory.
Good Life? Yes indeed.
