Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Review!

When it comes to listening to their customers, Molton Brown are all about that noise. Following overwhelming requests from fans of their best selling Rhubarb & Rose handcream to extend the scent to their Bath & Shower range they did exactly that. Just one sniff is enough to tell you they've done the right thing.

The perfect indulgence for a late night bath or the ideal zesty shower to begin your day, I. Am. Loving. This! Think of the zingy, sweet scent of Rhubarb & Cream sherbets of yesteryear and you're almost there. It lathers more than most of my Molton Brown stash and leaves a beautiful subtle scent & softened skin once dried off. It's an absolute beaut.

There are those that argue MB products might be a little spendy when a supermarket shower gel can do exactly the same job. The rub is thus, with Molton Brown, you're buying an experience. A moment or two of indulgence. A well earned treat. (I tell myself that every time I see the total on my virtual basket anyway).

So if you're listening, Molton Brown, as it's quite clear you do - we need this scent in candle form - as soon as ye can possibly do it!.

You'll find Rhubarb & Rose online here starting at €22 but I'd urge you to give it a quick sniff in store (there's a new one on Grafton St). I can't imagine if you're a rhubarb fan that you won't fall head over heels for it.

Tell us, are you a Molton Brown fan? What's your favourite scent?

*Pssst*

I spied (and picked up) new

Imperial Leather Foamburst New Lineup

I've been an Imperial Leather Foamburst fan for many a moon now, since way back when I thought it was fanceh to shave your pins with the foaming, sudsy goodness. Truth be told they've advocated this new line up as shave gels too, so I reckon that makes me a shaving hipster of sorts.

The budget favourites have had a face lift though and a scent lift - they've also been assigned beefy, half nekkid genies to promote each tin but I won't subject you to those because, well, yawnsies. Instead I'll tell you about the few I've tried and why I think you should too.

Sweet Vanilla & Cherry Blossom, Uplifting Lime & Grapefruit, Bewitching Blackberry & Wild Fig
Because Boots were having an introductory offer on these pretties of €2.50 each, I picked up four. The three above and Honey & Almond Milk (which was gifted to the Mammeh). I honestly can't decide which scent I like the most. Cherry Blossom is one of my favourite smells of all time and this version mixed with sweet vanilla is the perfect blend without being too sweet. So much so that the lads have both asked for this when hopping into the shower and they're quite picky indeed.

Without doubt, fig has been the scent above all else this year as far as I'm concerned and this pairing with blackberry is genuinely fab. So much so that I've bought a second tin for my Mammeh because it has to be shared.

Uplifting Lime & Grapefruit is the perfect morning shower companion. Bright and zesty, the scents almost burst from the foam as soon as you use it. Fabliss.

There are seven in the new Imperial Leather Foamburst lineup with this little lot making up the balance:

  • Spicy Ginger & Orange
  • Bracing Bergamot & Sea Minerals
  • Honey & Almond Milk
  • Rebalancing Green Tea & Jasmine

Though I picked 'em up at €2.50, the regular price in Boots is €4.09 - buy here but for a tin that's designed to last 40 showers, you're still getting a helluva deal considering the quality of product.

My only regret is that I didn't pick up the entire line at the discounted price. As expensive as my usual shower ablution saviours are (J'accuse Molton Brown) there really is something a little bit luxe about the arm fulls of soft, lathering foam that you get from Foamburst gels.

Are you a Foamburst fan?

L'Occitane's Verveine Menthe/Mint Verbena: A Unisex Intensely Refreshing Citrus Saviour in this Muggy Weather

Despite the Armageddon style weather of the past couple of weeks, I've yet to get used to the mugginess that this unprecedented summer weather has brought to our little emerald isle. From first thing in the morning I'm feeling the heat, right through to lunch when my Sweaty Bettyness comes to the fore and on to close of business when my makeup has slipped 3 inches and my hair resembles Monica on holliers, my only saviour has been L'Occitane's Mint Verveine (verbena).

The 2013 edition of the French brand's summer verbena offerings, this mint had us smitten from first spray. It's citrussy, minty, zesty, verbena(y) and intensely refreshing - almost sparkling in its scent.

Advertised as a unisex offering, I was interested to get the Gorgebags' take:

Eldest: 'Has anyone baggsed this yet? It smells like a whoosh of musky mint'
Youngest: 'What mint shower gel?' with the very clear shape of the Mint Verveine up his geansaĆ!

Summer Mist 100ml - €23.50Fresh Roll-on 10ml - €20Eau de Toilette 50ml - €38
The mint essential oil used in the EDT and encapsulated in the tiny green spheres in the shower gel mean that this scent stays on the skin all day long, that doesn't stop me hopping into the shower as soon as I'm through the door to wash the day off and wake myself up though.

For the more knowledgeable about stinky stuff among us the notes include green lemon, grapefruit, verbena, spearmint, peppermint, white woods and musk and depending on the time of day you'll smell every one.

As it stands we've gotten through three quarters of the shower gel and I've caught Aaron twice so far liberally dousing himself in the EDT. Because it's limited edition though I'll definitely be picking up another shower gel and possibly the body lotion to match. How fresh is it? Minty Fresh.

Are you a verbena fan? Have you tried this mint version yet?
