Knock Knock - New Keanu!

After John Wick I have a feeling we're going to see a Keanu resurgence similar to the McConaissance - so when I caught the end of this trailer and saw Keanu still rocking his Wick look I thought it was another action - but nope.

X-Men: Days of Future Past - Trailer

Returning to the director's chair for this prequel-sequel is the director of the incredible (and still considered on of the best comic book movies) X2 - Bryan Singer. The timeline for this movie seems to really divert from the source material by seemly introducing the Sentinels into the Marvel Universe incredibly early and while the redesign of them is a bit unnecessary; I'm just glad they're not 'tactical black'.

The movie seems to center around Wolverine (and to a lesser extent Mistique, Xavier and Magneto (Ma's new feller); but I think due to the time travel plot device one of my favourite X-Men - Cable - will be introduced to the world.

Possibly one of the most incredible ensemble casts are set to star - are you looking forward to it?

It releases in Irish Cinemas May 22nd.

A Million Ways to Die in the West - First Trailer for Seth McFarlane's NSFW New Release

Who's in it?

Seth McFarlane's newest release has a touch of the Blazing Saddles wannabes about it, doesn't it.

My question is this: can this many good actors get it this wrong?

We'll find out when A Million Ways to Die in the West hits Irish screens in June.

What so we reckon? Hit or a miss?

Lone Survivor - Coming Soon

Not usually one for combat movies, this trailer and the back story for Lone Survivor have really piqued my interest.

Based on the failed June 28, 2005 mission "Operation Red Wings". Four members of SEAL Team 10 were tasked with the mission to capture or kill notorious Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd. Were you not aware of th background or the outcome of the mission beforehand, the movies title could be seen as a slight spoiler but I, for one, am genuinely looking forward to seeing how it plays out on the big screen.

Lone Survivor hits Irish cinemas in February 2014.

World War Z - First Official Trailer

After numerous set backs and several release date changes, World War Z is to hit Irish screens in the Summer of 2013 and its first official trailer has just been released.

Based on the 2006 post-apocalyptic horror novel by Max Brooks and starring Brad Pitt, World War Z moves far away from the lumbering, brain dead zombies we've come to know and fear.

This time around the undead are fast, fast and very frightening. Coming in relentless waves of terror and destruction and sure to have your palms sweating before the opening scenes finish.

World War Z hits screens on June 21st 2013 (You'll probably be glad it's the longest day of the year so.

Excited?

The Lone Ranger - First Official Trailer

From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the filmmaking team behind the blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films' The Lone Ranger.

I know what you're thinking, that is Helena Bonham Carter wandering round there, I can only assume Tim Burton is hiding under her bushel.

This looks like a ton of fun, even if they've made sure Tonto won't be able to utter the ' Speak for yourself, pale face' line. Le sigh.

The Lone Ranger opens in Irish cinemas on August 9th 2013.

Les Misérables - Live Singing

I didn't think anything could excite me further for Les Misérables coming to the big screen but I was wrong. This glimpse at the ground breaking decision to have live singing will breathe new life into the much loved musical.

There's nothing that thrills me more with movies than taking a look at the inner workings and what they've done here is truly astounding. Having the actors sing live with just the piano in their ear and complete freedom to add the emotion means we've never heard the songs sung like this before and that's something pretty special.

Take a look at the powerful movie trailer here and have your hankies ready come January 11th.

Are you looking forward to this one?

Hansel & Gretel - First Trailer Released

Coming in January 2013, Hansel and Gretel is the latest Grimm tale to get the Hollywood treatment. It's all very Michael Bay with explosions and what not but it's not without promise.

If you're fairy taled out I can't see this one exciting you but with Will Ferrell as the Producer, Gemma & Jeremy in the lead and not a gingerbread doras in sight, I'm definitely going to give it a bash. Judging by how dark the trailer is, I'll be doing so in 2D.

What say we?

First Look: This is 40

You'll remember Pete & Debbie from Judd Apatow's Knocked up, This is 40 rejoins them when they're settled with a family of their own and looks at the trials and tribulations that mif life brings you.

The trailer looks great, the cast seems perfectly chosen (What with their being in a bajillion other successful comedies) and when it hits Irish screens on December 21st, I'll be there, popcorn in hand.

I've two questions: 1. Will you be watching this one? and 2. Do you reckon when Megan Fox fell out with Michael Bay she knew all she'd be doing for the next ten years would be getting her diddies out to faux surprise from (slightly) older ladies?

The Most Promising Movies Coming to Irish Screens in 2012

Coming September 21st and starring EVERYONE (honestly, look at the trailer), Killing Them Softly is the story of a personal enforcer (Pitt) hired to investigate the heist of a mob protected poker game. Yep, yep and YEP.

Starring Joseph Gordon Levitt (Seriously!) & Bruce Willis, Looper is a high octane, time travelling action thriller and will be released in Irish cinemas on September 28th.

Based on an incredible true story, as the Iranian revolution reaches a boiling point, the CIA concoct a surreal plan to free six Americans who have escaped a hostage situation. Starring Ben Affleck, Brian Cranston and many, many other big names, Argo will be in cinemas on October 12th.

From Baz Luhrmann, Australian director and hopeless romantic comes one of the greatest stories ever told. Starring Leonardo diCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire, The Great Gatsby hits Irish screens on Stephen's Day.

Tell me, are you as excited as I am about these upcoming releases? Which one are you most looking forward to? I keep thinking I know, then I watch the trailers again. Hopeless.

First Look at Taken 2 - Chuck Who?

On October 5th of this year, Bryan Mills will look for the kidnappers, he will find them and he will kill them. Again.

If you liked Liamo kicking ass and taking names in the 2008 surprise hit, Taken, (I did) then you'll love this. The premise sees Mills, retired (yeah, right) CIA operative enjoying some down time in Istanbul with his daughter (Maggie Grace) and wife ( Famke Janssen ), that is until the father of one of his daughter's dead kidnappers vows revenge (or revánge as I like to call it) and takes wifey hostage. One man chaos ensues. Thankfully.

I thoroughly enjoyed Taken for it's blatant badassery and unintentional tongue in cheek hilarity so will definitely be checking this one out.

Hows about you?
