The Thursday Chattery - Drunk Ebaying - What Has Your Drunken Self Bought You?

Morning All, it would seem that peeps like to chat about The Chattery chats on the tweet machine as well as/instead of here so we'll keep on keepin' on, shall we? We shall. 

Chat du jour today is drunken Ebaying - do you do it? 

I try very, very hard not to yet more often than once in the past month alone I have groggily awoken to memories of holding one hand over one eye so I can count out my Verified by Visa combo on my fingers to make a purchase. 

That and the fact that Amazon One Click Purchase is the work of the Divil and needs to be stopped!

Now, to be fair, I'm not hugely complaining - drunken me always buys me awesome stuff, it's just that sober me can rarely afford the impromptu splurge.

The Thusday Chattery - A 3D Printer to Print Makeup? Is the Game Changing?

Morning peeps, how has the week been treating you so far?

I saw something really interesting yesterday, while it's still in prototype stages, there has been initials showings of a 3D printer that will print makeup!

The story was initially broken by Tech Crunch 2 days ago and you can read that article, with a full interview with inventor, Grace Choi here.

The Tuesday Chattery - Do Snobby Sales Assistants Actually Boost Sales? Have Your Say!

Morning all and welcome back from the abyss that was a bank holiday weekend. Was yours lovely? 

Today I want to chat about something that has been cropping up all across meadia outlets since a new study by The Journal of Consumer Research was released last month and to be published this October. 

Apparently snooty sales assistants can BOOST sales when it comes to luxury products and services. 

Of course my reaction is: 

But just have a look at some of the anecdotal evidence to prove otherwise and tell me, if you're treated like rubbish in a high end store would you make a purchase? 

If you've been treated poorly by snotball sales assistants several times would you return to that counter? 

I have to tell you, while I'm sure Julia Robert's Pretty Woman got her thrills from returning with Dicky Gere's credit card to be maxed, there's no way and no how I'd be handing over my hard earned eurobux if the customer service isn't right.

The Thursday Chattery - Stars Join The White House in an Effort to Stop Sexual Assault

Hey, Happy May, everyone!

I was delighted to see this Public Service Announcement from the White House yesterday that heralds the start of their '1 is 2 Many' campaign against violence and sexual assault. 

The all male line up includes President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and actors Daniel Craig, Benicio Del Toro, Dulé Hill, Seth Meyers and Steve Carell in a 60 second video that encourages us, men in particular, to intervene when we see something wrong and for men to recognise when their actions are wrong too.

Del Toro himself says it explicitly "If she doesn't consent or can't consent, it's rape. It's assault.". This is something I was very conscious of bringing up two boys (now almost men). I think it's vital to educate boys from an early age about right and wrong when it comes to boundaries and respect. 

The numbers in this US campaign are staggering but in a similar study here in Ireland 'Say Something' by the USI last year, the numbers of sexual assault, reported and unreported are no less shocking. Again 1 is 2 Many.

I had a question on my FB page last night asking if I'd to choose only one makeup brand to use for the rest of my days what would that be... (thanks Amanda YOU DIVIL)

Ehhhhhhhm, I'd be forever choosing, that's the beauty junkie in me. Each brand offers something different and were you to see my (regularly culled) stash you'd see my loyalty lies all over the place. 

Gun to head though? It'd have to be Clarins for skincare and limited edition collections, or Estée Lauder for Bronze Goddess and Sensuous, or theBalm for Mary Lou Manizer and The Nude Tude, or Urban Decay for Naked palettes and 24/7 liners - can't forget Too Faced -

Morning All, we made it through the long weekend then?

If you're back to work this morning, as I am, take solace in the fact that there's another bank hollier in just two weeks. I know, that news brightened my morning too. 

Did you know today was Earth Day? Happy Day, Earth and all that that entails - I know the Aveda team over in Henry St Debenhams are celebrating by giving Glow facials and pampering for just €10 today with all proceeds going to Water Aid. If you hear of any other events I'd love to know.

I spent yesterday being inundated with brand new sun creams, oils, lotions and ablutions and it put the holiday goo on me something chronic.

My Sis sent on a link from GoHop.ie for 7 nights in Portugal, 4* hotel AND flights for €101 pp - that's pretty phenomenal.

The Tuesday Chattery - In Which We Chat About Social Media Sympathies & Condolences

Hey All and welcome back to The Chattery

We passed by Jervis Street last night and the footpath was filled with flowers and dedications to Yao Webster from Donabate in Dublin who lost her life there yesterday in a road traffic accident. It was only when we arrived home that we learned that Peaches Geldof had passed away too. Two huge shocks for two heartbroken families and, to a much lesser extent, for those of us learning of the news. 

There has been much debate online about people tweeting and updating their Facebook to offer condolences to people they didn't know and whether it is, in fact, 

attention seeking behaviour for themselves. 

I don't think it is, for the most part, it is human nature to react with shock to a life cut short, regardless of our connection to that life and to feel empathy toward a family in grief. 

Tell us, what do you think of people using social media to offer their sympathies to celebs who have recently passed or to those documented in the media?

*Spoiler Alert* The Thursday Chattery - In Which We Discuss the How I Met Your Mother Finale!!

Morning All, I'd like to dedicate The Chattery to something a little different this morning. TV shows that we can't discuss openly. HIMYM in particular. 

Too often, because our TV service is woejus, the best, most loved series' finales are spoiled as the States see the episodes months before us. 

It's hard when you're Twitter timeline balks at the idea of a Spoiler and that's fair when they've no access to see the show (as for the likes of Love/Hate etc, if you don't watch it on time, you've no business on social media, whinging about spoilers). 

On Monday night the final in a 9 series long, much loved series, How I Met Your Mother ended. The very premise was intriguing, Ted (gobshite, needly, needy Ted) spent 9 whole episodes telling his children how he met their mother (a weird Lily/Robin hybrid lady imho). 

At it's peak, the show was one of the funniest on TV as the younger, cooler 'Friends' shared their life stories on the build up to the big reveal. As can often happen, when that big reveal happened people weren't happy. People were mad. Big, big mad.
