Kat Von D 24-Hour Super Brow Long-Wear Pomade Aubergine - First Look!

Hi, my name is Sue and I took more selfies in the hour following using Kat Von D's new Super Brow Pomade in Aubergine than I have in the past five years combined, because LOOK AT IT!

These 24 hour richly coloured pomades are just one of the three brow products set for release on May 7th in Ireland (before the UK)(ahem). Delighted with a sneak preview with the Kat Von D Team, and an avid fan of an eggplant/aubergine liner (and an egglplant emoji, let's be honest) I was only too happy to try the Aubergine Pomade. Even happier when I saw just how bloody flattering it is!

These Pomades are one of three cruelty free brow products set for imminent release, expect:

  • Brow Struck, a reflective brow powder in seven shades - reflective because Kat says that brows have a natural sheen that this complements (it does).
  • Signature Brow, precision pencils, sharper than any I've seen.
  • Super Brow, a rainbow assortment of highly pigmented, long wear pomades. There's 16 shades, ranging from the every day to the super fun (festival season how are ya!)

There aren't many reviews available online yet, because these are brand spanking new, but I'm expecting to see coloured brows have a moment this year. Just like coloured mascaras and liners before them, people may be a little wary at first but, let me tell you, as a 40 year old makeup obsessive, these brows have made me excited to play with makeup again.

I mean, at the end of the day, isn't makeup just playing dress up anyway? It's meant to be fun, it's meant to flattering and it's meant to make you feel bad ass, which is exactly how I felt rocking these. Blue/Green eyed gals specifically will love this shade, that's the aubergine tones for you.

Worn with Kat Von D's Lock It Foundation in shade 47 and Lolita Liquid Lip

Formulation:

These are highly pigmented, waxy pomades, seriously blendable and apply with ease to both shape and colour brows very quickly. They're soft enough to use as gel liners, or even buffed out shadows but once they're dry, they're dry. Smudge-proof, rub-proof and only removable with an oil based cleanser, they really do not budge.

If the idea of coloured brows appeals but many not as high impact as the brighter colours, the more everyday shades can be used to tone down your chosen brow. Having said that, the Bleach or White Out will be of great interest to those not brave enough to colour their own brows permanently to try the bleached out trend, or those with micro-needled brows that can't.

Liner here is Urban Decay's Alkaline - Kat's Hawkwind lip liner will work just as well!

Granted these are first impressions but, if you watched my Stories yesterday HERE, you'll know I was so enamoured that I really didn't want to remove them. The Kat Von D Team at Tape have very kindly offered to send me this shade, but I'll be buying my more natural shade, Light Brown, for everyday wear too, once they drop in Debenhams on May 7th - so impressed am I with their function as a product.

So what do we think? Would you rock an aubergine brow?
Would you be even braver?
