Nars Kalahari & Kuala Lumpur: A Sneaky Pay Day Purchase

Being a newbie to Nars (Outlaw being my first purchase) I haven't paid much attention to their eye shadows - I know, bad beauty blogger - but on a recent sojourn to BTs these two duos almost leapt from the shelf to be with me. How could I refuse?

Nars Kuala Lumpur & Kalahari
Nars Kuala Lumpur
Nars Kuala Lumpur is a pink/peach with gold shimmer on one side with a reddened purple with gold micro shimmer on the other. Both are hugely flattering to green/blue eyes - luckily I have 'em and blend beautifully.

My one note with these is the huge benefit to be had from dampening the brush before application. The colour payoff almost doubles and the fallout is negligible. Not only am i using these alone to create a full eye look but they blend beautifully with the neautrals already in my stash.

Nars Kalahari
Nars Kalahari is a neutral duo with golden brown shimmer and a brighter golden brown with reddish undertone to complement. Both ridiculously easy to wear I've been reaching for this duo more than any other over the past week.

Again, I'd recommend a dampened brush for true colour payoff but Kalahari is an ideal duo for buffing out other colours or wearing on it's lonesome for a subtle day time look.

Nars duos are priced at a fairly spendy €33 each but I'll be honest and say that I had to stop looking. There's some truly beautiful duos on offer but my moment of madness had to be limited to two. (Those pesky kids and their need to eat!)

Tell me, are you a Nars fan? Anything you reckon I should see immediately?

Nars Outlaw: Loving You Muchly

Can we just take a moment to look at how pretty this blush is? Behold, lovely readers, my very first Nars purchase. Yep it makes me ashamed as a beauty blogger to actually admit that but I've always been a Super Duper kinda gal and never believed that blush could actually make me happy. Then there was Nars Outlaw.

This raspberry, rose gold blush with the slightest hint of golden shimmer was enough to garner a 'Oh Outlaw is gorrrrrgeous' from the Nars assistant, much to the chagrin of Karen as we boozily shopped, post lunch this Christmas (K's Nars choice was Torrid by the way, you can see her post here I WANT IT). I had already visited Outlaw three times before purchase day though, so I knew it had to be mine, encouraging 'oohs' from the SA or not.

In the pan, Outlaw is a deep raspberry, reddish pink that I thought would work beautifully for evenings out, when I wanted a little more va va voom, cheek wise. It looked to me a close cousin to Benefit's Bella Bamba, one of my all time favourites and the only blush that I've ever actually finished. The texture with Outlaw is a little drier than I'd expected and the swatch certainly not true to the colour in the pan but holy Lawd if it isn't a stunner.

Swatched on my finger tip, it's a pink delight, much lighter than I would have imagined. On the skin, it's lighter again, very close to a natural pink blush but once buffed (with a small kabuki) you can see that it's transformed into a golden, lightly shimmering beauty with pink/red undertones. Although my initial purchase was as a night time blush, Outlaw has been used at least 3-4 times a week for work, the perfect pick me up glowing pink.

Overall I'm thrilled with my first Nars purchase, it's certainly not what I expected but that just means I'll have to go back for something darker to go from day to night, doesn't it? Hmm? Nars blushes will set you back €30 (or €28.88 in BT with a loyalty card)(Don't ask me, I dunno either).

Have you any recommendations for a deeper shade? Lemme know!
