YSL Babydoll Mascara in Fetish Black: Tried and Tested with Before & After Photos

Being an avid lover of YSLs Effect faux Cils and Shocking mascaras, there was an audible squee when the Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll press release arrived in my inbox. 'Eyes deprived of nothing' it said, 'A return to sophistication' it said. 

'GET ON MY LASHES' I said. 

Housed in the iconic high shine golden tube, the only way to differentiate this iteration from previous YSL beauties is the handwritten fuchsia pink 'babydoll'. 

The Babydoll wand is a lot thinner than you might expect for a truly volumising mascara. A rubber brush crammed full of short, stiff bristles that are set in an 'inverted spiral' to give you the best results when applying from root to tip of the lash in a zig zag motion. 

Working quickly, I applied it right from my tight line and the brush, unbelievably, gripped almost every lash.  The formulation is wet, though not messily so and speed is your friend with application. 

I have two/three coats on here and you can see quite clearly we're talking separation, we're talking volume and we're talking curl. In a nutshell, we're talking turkey.

I've had no flaking, no clumping and no breakage as can be a problem with many volumising mascaras and for that and all of the reasons above I'm giving Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll two thumbs up. 

Available from this month from YSL counters, priced at €32.50 and available in 4 colours: Fetish Black (my sample), Wheedler Brown, Audacious Blue and Indiscreet Purple. I'll certainly be picking up purple when pay day rocks around.

One of Dad's stand out products has to be Molton Brown and he doesn't get many complaints from me as every time I buy him a piece or two the Dundrum store spoil me with deluxe samples. It's totally win/win. 

Their new Sport range starts at €19 and consists of a trio of energising, high-performance products ideally suited to athletes, sportsmen and gym goers and work hard for older Dads on the go too (the madra doesn't walk herself a bajillion times round the park y'know). With deodorising cassia bark, invigorating nutmeg and refreshing lime they're a sure fire manly hit. 

4. Gillette Fusion Pro Glide (€13.99)

The eldest Gorgebag has been trialling the Gillette Fusion Pro Glide for the past several weeks and is in the absolute love with it. 

His face is soft and clean with none of the usual nicks or tears from bating the blade around his face before school. Relatively cheap for a top class and flawless shave every time, 

there's not a Daddio that wouldn't love this. 

5. NetFlix Subscription (€6.99 per month or €83.88 for the year)

Monday's Moments: 10/06/13

What a stunner of a week we've had here in Ireland, weather wise, highs of 

23 degrees and hardly a cloud in the sky. 

I'm pretty much on a constant high from that alone but, as ever, 

there's always time for more positivity of a Monday, right? 

Here lie the five Moments that have topped my week: Enjoy!

1. The Breakfast of Indifferent Champions

This week saw both Gorgebags starting their State exams, one Junior and one Leaving. 

Being the dutiful Momma (I do try) I got up early to get them breakfast and see them off. Did they care? 'God, Mam', 'Chill out Mam', 'You'd swear you were doing the exams, MAM'

PUPS!!

2. Myth. BUSTED. 

You may have heard me witter on about lunch time walking and getting back on the fitness track. Well I've pushed it up to over 7k a day and in this recent weather that makes for a pretty schweaty CherrySue (attractive). 

I've always gotten changed in the work shower room and ALWAYS believed the myth that the shower was akin to a North Pole plunge bath - then I tried it. 

Sweet Jebus it's glorious. Perfect pressure and roasty toasty water. No more Mexicanas over the work sink for moi! 

3. When Bloggers Align

The Awesome Key Lime Pie Cocktail from The Exchequer on Emma Fluff's recommendation! 

When 4 blogging peeps be blogging, working and generally awesome at life it takes a lot to find a time when all four are free for chats, eats and drinks. 

The impossible happened last Friday though as I joined Karen of the LovelyGirlieBits, Emma of the Fluffy Fripperies and Sue of all things Bright and Beautifull and we had a blahhdy ball. 

We compared beauty addiction and the behaviors of a typical beauty junkie (every one of us), it was pretty reassuring to have others nod and add in their own tale of mania instead of raise an eyebrow I can tell you. 

I'm also working on the theory that we're actually bit players in an IRL Final Destination plot but you don't even wanna know about that! 

4. The Sunny South East

As if the weather in dear old Dublin wasn't enough, I got a little selfish on Saturday and opted to spend some time in the even Sunnier South East with my bestie in Wexford. 

You could be anywhere in the world with weather like that and chats and laughs around the BBQ really do the soul some good. (I reckon Daisy up there, giving us the evils,  knew there was something suspicious about our delicious burgers) (soz, Daisy)

5. Send a Raven!!

And finally, this week saw my first beauty feature for The Raven go to print. (so exciiiiting!)

Featuring SPF saviours, Origins, Kiehl's & La Roche Posay and some advice on Sun Safe Behavior, I couldn't have timed this coinciding heat wave better.

(I can only say that because it wasn't printed in torrential rain storms so everyone could scoff at me y'know)

Things That Rustle My Jimmies

Why I oughta'... But I won't, I'll share my grievances of the week in this handy posht - it's cheaper than therapy. Believe me.

Essie Summer 2013 Collection: Quick Look with Swatches

There was an audible 'Squeee' when this package of beauty dropped on my desk yesterday, you see the only thing that makes me happier than nail polish is SUMMER nail polish and boy have Essie outdone themselves with the Summer 2013 Collection. 

Usually when we're talking about collections the expectation is that there'll be one or even worse two write offs in the bunch. Well having spent the guts of two hours swatching and changing these polishes last night I can tell you that there's not a dud in the bunch!

The recurring theme through this six strong offering from Essie is silver micro shimmer with all but The More The Merrier (that mouth watering lime creme up there) boasting the light catching particles. 

Fear not though, we're not talking 80s revival shimmer, it's subtle enough that it works only to bring the polishes to life in the sun shine. We like this. We like it a lot.

It's safe to say I'm loving this entire collection, there's something in there for you no matter your taste in polishes. You can't get better for the glorious Leaving Cert weather we're having right now in Dublin.
