Rose Gold Hair from Garnier Olia - Unfiltered Pics & Review!
You'd have to be living under a very large rock not to notice we've gone WAY beyond a handful of hair colours. I can remember Aaron (who currently rocks a cobalt blue fauxhawk) mentioning that people with differently coloured hair always acknowledged each other in public with a nod or a wink - he says that doesn't happen as often now that coloured hair has gone mainstream, which is fair because what's more mainstream than your Mam turning rose gold?!

Spooky Halloween Hair For Girls - A Simple How To
Who doesn’t love spending time looking at all the
pretty things & genius ideas on Pinterest? I know I do. When I have
the time that is. I love nothing more than looking at the photos &
occasionally thinking to myself, I could give that a go. That’s where I got the
idea of doing my daughters hair like spiders for Halloween.
We shared the best places for Halloween breaks this morning and these would be ideal to pop into your bag to do your little one's hair for their kids clubs and Halloween shindigs. It’s so easy to do
you won’t believe it.

Sleep In Rollers - Or More Accurately Called Insomnia Rollers!
It was with slight trepidation that I ordered my Sleep in Rollers last week, you'd have to be living under a very large, sound proof rock not to have heard or seen these in the past couple of months but I couldn't help but get flash backs to a childhood of torturous rags and rolls or sponge rollers with needle sharp pins all in the name of nice Sunday Mass hair. It was child abuse then and sleep deprivation of any nature still is now. I had high hopes.

Sleep in Rollers |
Each pretty pink bag contains 20 very pink Velcro/sponge rollers, more than enough to tame any mane but they do need to be secured with clips to hold them in place in the hair. I found normal bobby pins pinning my hair to the Velcro alone was the best way to go. My grúaig is just below shoulder length, layered and average thickness so once washed, treated with Avon's new Argon Oil, dried and ready it took 12 rollers until I was loaded up and ready for zedds.....
Now, I'll preface this next statement with the fact that I'm a little bit precious about my sleep, if I'm not out on the tiles or working late I want to blissfully snoring (though I don't snore)(Moi?) - I'd say I got about 45 minutes sleep for the entire night. I tossed, I turned, I cursed at no one in particular and then directly at the 12 instruments to torture I'd voluntarily secured to my head. 'Fuppin INSOMNIA Rollers, that's what yis are!'. This was me at 5am, baldy faced and determined to take them out, do I look sleepy at all?

'SLEEP' in Rollers and me at 5am!!!!!!!! |
Being the
Here we have it, it must be admitted that I really like the result. The first picture is as the rollers were shaken out, the second two are with my hair brushed through with a wide toothed comb. Nice eh? I had a full day out with the fambilee as I mentioned in Monday's Moments and it held up surprising well. My only difficulty is that I felt like Medusa, people were mesmerised by my hair but one look into my exhausted eyes and I'd set them to stone! Feckin' knackered!!
'Sleep' in Rollers will set you back approximately €20 and yes, if we're talking about results alone, they worked for me. Truthfully though? They're not worth losing a nights sleep for. Using mousse before you dry your hair and the Babyliss Big Hair gives me equal if not better results in 20 minutes AFTER a full eight hours.
Would I use them again? I would but only while awake and vertical. If I've a big night out at the weekend and I'm not doing anything through the day I would pop them in but I won't be lying down on them again. The results are really good but the Unique Selling Point of Sleep In Rollers is SLEEP. That, in the words of Dwight Schrute, is FALSE!
Have you used these rollers yet? Did you manage to get any shut eye? I'd love to know...

New! Kérastase Paris Cristalliste Range
Promising 'Lust Have Locks', the next generation in luxury hair care from Kérastase, Cristalliste, certainly doesn't disappoint. You know when you open a shocking pink bubble wrap package (my favourite) and you can't help but inhale the divine scent deeply then you're working with something a little bit special.
Aimed at busy young women with discerning taste, Cristalliste professes to give you resilient, feather light and free flowing locks. It also professes many things with large words that I've never heard of 'Oil Solubilisation', anyone? 'Magnet-Like Polymers', perhaps? Still heady on the divine scent, I decided to let my grúaig do the testing and off I popped for a hair wash.

Return of the Plait! (To the tune of Mark Morrison)
If you've followed Pinterest for any amount of time or been to the movies in the past year you'll have noticed the re-emergence of one of the best time saviours to Mammies of little girls since time immemorial. The plait. The Sis and I, used to sport Rapunzel locks to our knees for a long time so can attest to that. The lowly plait has taken on a new dimension though, some of the most beautiful hairstyles created now are done so using plaits and braids and the movies are beginning to reflect it in a very big way.

As Tyra would say.... 'Fierce!' |
At the Snow White & The Huntsman premiere on Wednesday I couldn't help but be wowed by the hairstyles sported by the cast, Charlize especially, but even Kristen - taking the time, while fleeing through The Dark Forest, to throw in a couple of plaits was definitely dedication to being the fairest in the land. Every female cast member wore braids, some intricate, some simple but all stunning. I'll have some exclusive footage from Universal next week so you can see what I mean. It's embargoed until then so we'll have to make do with stills.

Fabulous tutorial on how to achieve this look here |
There are several websites dedicated solely to the plait but my favourite has to be the Pinterest Board of PrincessHairstyles.com. Take a look at the outstanding work they do here, there's pictures, pictorials and videos with hints and tips from novice to expert braider. There's a style there for every girl, young or slightly older.
I was having the chats with D'Sis about the merits of this gorgeous grúaig style, she, more than anyone, with 4 childer under 5 knows how helpful and time saving it can be when it comes to keeping girls cool in Summer and making sure they look great going to school or on the playground, without flowing locks getting in the way of valuable playing time. My gorgeous Madser nieces Aoife & Orla have kindly modelled a couple of simple plaited looks to let you see too.
Cherry Cheat: Of course, if your hair is a little shorter, there's always the 'fake it till you make it' way to achieve this style. Plaited hair pieces or hair bands can be picked up for next to no p now in Claire's Accessories or any Hairspray siopa. Use 'em to throw your hair into a plaited bun or get creative using inspiration from sites such as Lauren Conrad's The Beauty Department.
You too could look like Charlize in minutes. Swear!
Are you a fan of the braid? Have you noticed them popping up everywhere too?
