Chanel Rouge CoCo Shine - Bel-Ami

Behold Chanel's Rouge CoCo Shine in Bel-Ami, a sumptuous dusky berry plum colour that, although deeply pigmented in the bullet, applies semi sheer with a silver micro shimmer for shine.

Emoliant based with the promise of continual moisture, Bel -Ami, to me is more of a balm than a lipstick, that's only one of the reasons this has quickly become my favourite 'My Lips But Better' product.

While I don't find it moisturising, I certainly don't find it drying as can happen with other shimmer lip products (I'm looking at you Peach Parfait Lip Butter). I'm getting up to two hours wear from each application but because of the subtle scent and soft comfortable formulation on the lips I really don't mine applying throughout the day.

The colour is buildable and can always be given a more long lasting effect by using your lip pencil all over the lip before application. That way the pigment will wear off evenly and the stain will stay put for a lot longer. For evenings out that's certainly how I'll be applying it.

Priced at €28 from Chanel counters nationwide, Bel- Ami certainly isn't cheap but for the quality of product and the fact that it can be worn both day and night more than justify the outlay. Anyone that follows me on Twitter will know that I purchased this beauty on Saturday before a night out but managed to lose it before even getting to unwrap it. Bereft for the weekend, I decided that it was special enough to shell out again. If that's not a big enough endorsement, I'm not sure what is.

By the by, if you did happen to find a Chanel bag with said lipstick still immaculately wrapped in Dublin on Saturday, I genuinely hope it brings you as much joy as it is me. I can say that now that I have my own to ease the sting.

Are you loving Rouge CoCo Shines? Have you a favourite shade that I should check out?

Simple July 4th Manicures (Independence Day Manis)

We're one day away from Independence Day for our Stateside Sisters so I thought I'd give you a little taster of a couple to easy to recreate July 4th ideas for your talons. Beside the fact they're patriotic, they're also kinda gorgeous.

Let's get started shall we?

First up is a simple variation on the Paddy's Day Patriotic Splatter nails. Simply paint your nail white (OPIs Alpine Snow), tape up the edges and using the insert of a biro or a Capri Sun straw, dip into your colour of choice and blow. Great fun altogether.

I can take no credit for creating this one but if you are in the mood to show a little July 4th flair, Angelica Boogie Nights has you covered. For just €2.75 this glitter touches all bases for a simple but effective look. You could use it as an accent nail, go the whole hog and paint 'em all or even just the tips like the Bronze Goddess tutorial. The world is your lobster when it comes to this beauty.

Next up, release and embrace your inner magpie. If you're not brave enough to sport this glittering wonders on your pingies then your piggies are always an option. Stunning in the sunlight and guaranteed to get you noticed. It's go big or go home when it comes to glitter with me.

Finally, the ones that I'm just a little bit proud of and the ones that meant all others had to be done on falsies as I haven't the heart to take 'em off (s'ok, I'm on holliers). These truly were simple to do, please don't think that to mean simple for me, I mean simple for anyone.

It's all freehand, a base coat of Barry Ms Red Glitter followed by a white striper pen, do be sure to use one, wipe off the excess from the long, thin brush and lay it flat on the nail bed, allow it to do the work for you. Freehand Barry M Denim tips and one or two rhinestones for the day that's in it.

If you've completed a July 4th mani I'd love to see it linked below, I'm nosey like that and besotted with polish. It's an illness.

According to Google there's a fair whack of American lovelies following the blog so Hai Everyone! *waves* Have a wonderful July 4th and mind those fireworks! (I truly am turning into my Mother). If you get a chance to show me your nails, I'd love to see 'em!

Monday's Moments - 02/07

Morning all, another weekend has trundled into history, eh? I'd a pretty great one, got to head out with a bestie on Friday and see Stand, a favourite band of mine for years. Then on Saturday myself and Karen of the Lovelygirliebits.com had an evening of chats, eats, lols and headed in to see the Laugh Out Loud comedy gig for Temple Street. Great craic altogether.

Did you get up to anything? Wanna see some Monday's Moments while you decide whether or not to spill?

1. It's a Tough Job...

The weather has been slightly apocalyptic of late, as only Irish weather can. Switching from hail the size of your hands to 19 degree heat in the space of an hour. It might not look it but I took this shot in said heat in Howth last week while on a site visit. I happened to have timed my visit perfectly.

While the camera did catch the looming clouds, it didn't catch the snakey 99 I was having while sat on the bench, with my phone on vibrate, in the scorching heat before heading back to the office. Some site visits are just slightly more scenic than others. Thankfully.

2. Best Compliment Evah!

Source
I met a pal I haven't seen in years last week (Hai, Alison *waves*), we'd a good ol' chinwag and catch up and she then gave me one of the nicest compliments I've received about this here blog to date. She said she'd checked it out and of course I winced slightly waiting on her verdict.

'It's like I'm sitting beside you in class all over again!' was her description, I'm fairly sure she's not talking about the extensive beauty knowledge I had as a teen (I didn't) she followed it up with 'You're still a messer'. That, to me, is exactly what I'd love for people to get from le blog, a bit of a chuckle, a minute or two to take a break and have a laugh. Best. Compliment. Evah!

3. My Name in Lights! Print!

As if the La Roche Posay news last week wasn't good enough, I had the sheer delight to be featured (slightly) in this months Prudence magazine. Moment number 3 came on Saturday evening when I flicked through the mag and stumbled upon my own name.

Now I know it's a little bit silly to get so excited about something like that but genuinely there was a squee let out. It's a very, very nice feeling and definitely one of my highlights of the year so far. Just wait till I'm featured in double and treble page spreads! (I jest)(slightly)

4. Suddenly a Wild Daddio Appears!

While rushing around to get ready on Saturday to head out I was picking up dog food in the new Tesco store that's been opened locally (Aren't they everywhere now?). Haring from aisle to aisle looking for where they might keep the madra chow I looked up and who did I spot? My own Daddio!

Don't get me wrong, I see the man every other day, if not every day but to meet him like that, out in the waild, unexpectedly... 'I know you!' He said, clearly as startled as I was and we got to chatting, for almost 30 minutes, as if we were strangers, in the waild. Mad, Ted.

5. Be Our Guest

Meet this kitteh, I refuse to call him by either of the names that the youngest Gorgebag has already suggested. He's not ours you see. He followed that same youngest home on Friday evening and has been living the life of Reilly here at Casa Cherry ever since.

I've tweeted and facebooked this picture hoping that his owner would come forward as a puss puss this pretty must have a home to go to. He had no tag and has an appointment today to check for a chip but speaking as a non cat lover, he's an absolute sweet heart. Diesel is still unsure how he feels about this marmalade interloper but I have an inkling, if an owner can't be found (Clonsilla area of Dublin 15), he'll be sticking around these parts for the foreseeable. I r glutton for punishment. I know this...

So tell me, how was your last week of June 2012, anything weird or wonderful happen?

Cherry Pick of the Week - Train - Drive By

Cherry Pick of the Week is Train's new track Drive By. It's about as catchy as they come. Since the days of Drops of Jupiter every once in a while they come out with an ear worm such as this.

Last year was Hey, Soul Sister that Daddy Cherry must have played eleventy billion times, so much so that's he's been banned from playing it at home any more. I've sent a link to this to him through Facebook and I'm expecting Elder Cherry (D'Mammy) to knock on the door any minute with my slap!

Are you loving this? Any other songs stuck in your noggin?
